About World of Sumo
World of Sumo is a reference site built for fans who want one place to track rikishi, follow every basho as it happens, and actually understand the ceremony and ranking system behind the sport — not just the scores.

- Basho — the full tournament calendar plus day-by-day matchup results as they're posted.
- Learn Sumo — plain-language explainers on sumo's history, the kimarite glossary, how a tournament actually works, the ranking system, and the ritual you'll see before every bout.
A note on the data
The roster, schedule, and results currently shown are illustrative seed data used to build and test the site. They'll be replaced with a live data feed as that integration is connected.
Built on Cloudflare
This site runs on Cloudflare Pages with a D1 database behind it, so updating a wrestler's stats or posting a new basho's results is just a database update — no rebuild required.
